History of Niagara Specialty Metals

Niagara Specialty Metals was founded in 1982 by J. Barry Hemphill and Louis Valery. They built a steel mill to serve the tool and stainless steel market with custom size orders and fast deliveries. The flexible design of the rolling mills has allowed Niagara Specialty Metals to also hot roll alloys for the aerospace, electronic and other specialized industries. Over the years, Niagara Specialty Metals has evolved to be more than just a rolling mill. We have added specialized equipment to process sheet and plate after it is rolled to gauge. We have some of the finest roller levelers in the market today for flattening Titanium, Molybdenum and other difficult or brittle alloys. We also have extensive cutting and machining capabilities.

Many of the employees of Niagara Specialty Metals have been here 20 years or more. Our people are what make us special and let us to compete in today’s global marketplace. They constantly strive to find better ways to improve our process and customer service, which is why so many companies trust us to process their valuable material. In 2004, J. Barry Hemphill, essentially gave the company to the employees of Niagara Specialty Metals. We are now a 100 percent ESOP owned company thanks to his generosity.
