416 - BELT GROUND AND SAW CUT

Belt ground sheets are machined to 60 Ra. (This is not a precision or fine finish). The thickness of the sheets are still 5-10% oversized to allow a defect free finish. They will be decarb free. Saw cut strips are cut on a bandsaw. The resulting strips are straight and flat and there is no edge burr. This method of cutting is slow and more expensive.

Descaled sheets are sandblasted to a uniform grey matte finish. The thickness of the sheets are oversized 10-20% to allow the steel to be machined to the desired finish dimension decarb and defect free. There will be minimal decarb in the as received product. Saw cut strips are cut on a bandsaw. The resulting strips are straight and flat and there is no edge burr. This method of cutting is slow and more expensive.
